'Banshee' News, Update: Upcoming Fourth Season to Be the Last?
Lucas Hood (Antony Starr) will soon have his fill of bloodshed. Cinemax's hit cops and criminals drama TV series "Banshee" will come to an end after its upcoming fourth season which, according to previous reports, will consist of eight episodes.
TV Line claims that the producers of the bloody drama have "known for some time that the end was near." As a result, they "were able to craft an 'epic' conclusion to the series" rather than an abrupt one.
Speculations pointing out to its conclusion in fact started back in June. In a Season 3 finale postmortem report from TV Guide, executive producer Greg Yaitanes revealed that "the show is closer to its end than its beginning" adding that "it's always had a limited premise and lifespan."
"We always push hard to make sure every episode is better than the one before it, and that takes an enormous amount of energy and creativity and work. I feel like we have a really solid three acts that we told with Lucas' story, and I'm very excited about the next chapter," the executive producer said in May.
Filming for the finale season will commence soon, according to Deadline. The drama is slated to premiere its 8-part chapter in 2016 on Cinemax.
New faces are to be expected to appear in the show like Eliza Dushku, who was announced last April.
