Barcelona Football Star Lionel Messi Rethinks Retirement; To Appear in November World Cup Qualifiers

FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has finally withdrawn his shocking announcement of retirement after his team's loss against Chile in the Copa America Finals. It was a heartbreaking news to the world of football, both for the fans and well-known personalities, but the athlete has reportedly changed his decision and is now going for the 2018 World Cup.

According to Sports Illustrated, Messi is now planning to join Albiceleste in the qualifiers this November to be able to compete in the next World Cup. The report also suggested that the player will not be present for the match in September.

Argentinian ex-coach Cesar Luis Menotti saw this coming as he told ESPNFC.com that he believes Messi will come back to represent his country. He added, "The only way out of this crisis would have been if Argentina had won." He also said that he understands why Messi was caught up in the moment and announced his retirement after the game. Menotti believes that the pressure of living through many concerns and not being able to win might be the reason retirement came to the football superstar's mind.

The team had a very hard time because of the 4-2 loss against Chile, and according to a report, Sergio Aguero told the media after the game, "Some (players) in the locker room are looking really bad; I don't think they'll continue with the national team," he said adding that it is good to have opportunities for the players of the national team.Besides Sergio and Lionel, other team members who are reportedly thinking about other options are Lucas Biglia, Ever Banega, Gonzalo Higuain, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Mascherano and Angel Di Maria. However, the team still acknowledges Messi's efforts to carry the team to victory and still calls him as "the best player of the world."

Fans had mixed reactions when the football icon announced leaving the football scene for good and did not hold back on expressing their feelings through social media.

Whether it is because of his fans' cries to keep him from going or his deep commitment to the sports, Lionel Messi will still be with us for a long time.
