Barcelona vs. Granada for May 14, 2016: Messi, Neymar Eye Spanish La Liga Championship - Preview and Prediction

Barcelona need a win to ensure a title.

Hoping to remain as Spanish La Liga champions, Barcelona have a big task ahead as they travel to Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes to face Granada in game week 38.

The matchup is on May 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM ET.

This should be an epic 90 minutes as Barcelona are kicking off at the same time that their rivals Real Madrid are when they face Deportivo La Coruna.

The reason for this intense battle is that there is only one point separating the two teams and depending on the results of both matches, it will determine who will be the league champion.

At the moment, Barcelona hold a one-point lead with 88 points. They slipped a few points after poor performances leading to the final weeks of the season, but they still have some leverage and can successfully defend their title.

In 37 games so far, they have only lost five times, winning 28 and only settling for a draw four times.

On the other hand, Madrid have won 27 times, drawn six times, and lost four.

This is how close the two have battled so far this season.

But looking at Barcelona, they should still have the advantage as they are battling a struggling team in Granada.

At 16th place at the moment, Granada have 39 points and still have a small chance of dropping down the relegation zone.

If they lose heavily to the Catalans, they may drop down the rankings and finish 18th place – and will be playing in the second tier league for one season.

However, if they can avoid that and get a win, or at least a draw then they could shake things up at the top of the table.

A Granada win paired with a Madrid win means the Los Blancos are champions – so Granada's performance could greatly affect the outcome.

However, realistically speaking, it will be tough to beat a driven Barcelona squad.
