On the other hand, Las Palmas are 12th in the league and level on points with Real Sociedad, Sporting Gijon and Real Betis.

Between the two teams, the biggest story was the Catalans' recent loss in the league against surprise squad Celta de Vigo.

While many were applauding Vigo's excellent start to the season, few gave them a real chance against the defending champions when they met for the first time in the campaign.

However, Barcelona were quickly taught a lesson that their rivals were seriously trying to challenge as Nolito and Iago Aspas scored within the first 30 minutes of the game, breaking down the Barcelona defence to take a 2-0 lead.

Aspas completed his brace in the 56th minute as the shell-shocked Barcelona squad simply could not find the answers despite having the more talented squad.

Neymar scored one in the 80th minute to make it 3-1 but Vigo answered back three minutes later to complete the upset.

The loss has left Barcelona reeling, and another poor performance against Las Palmas may see them lose the title race this early in the season.

Meanwhile, Las Palmas recently won their first game of the young campaign as they also upset Sevilla 2-0. In their first four games they have only managed two draws to get two points but now have their first official win to help them climb to the middle of the table.

That big win over Sevilla was at home, with Roque Mesa scoring in the 30th minute, while Antolin Alcaraz put the finishing touches with a goal in the 76th minute to please their home crowd.

Now, they are looking for another upset at the expense of Barcelona who are also looking to erase the bitter taste of the loss early in the season.
