Bart Simpson has appeared in court in England, pleading not guilty before Mr. Burns, who is the judge in the case.

No, this is not another episode of Fox's animated cartoon series The Simpsons, but a real life court case ongoing in England.

A Mr. Bart Simpson from Eccleshall, England has been brought before a court in charges of bringing a handgun to an airport in Birmingham last year.

It may make some fans of The Simpsons chuckle to hear that, as the yellow, spiky-haired character in the cartoon series is also famous for getting in trouble. However, even more bizarrely the judge in the real life court case involving Mr. Bart Simpson is a Recorder known as Mr. Burns - another character from the much-loved cartoon series.

A court worker has commented about the case: "It's a bizarre coincidence that Bart Simpson is actually on trial in front of Mr Burns but it'll proceed as any other criminal case would. There were some eyebrows raised when the court list was published."

In The Simpsons, Mr C. Montgomery Burns is the elderly, wealthy owner of the local power plant where Bart Simpson's dad, Homer, works. Mr Burns is known for his greed and merciless temperament.

In the real life court case, Bart Simpson has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Just recently The Simpsons creator, Matt Groening, confirmed that there are no current plans to make a sequel to the 2007 Simpsons movie. That original feature length version of the cartoon series grossed $500 million at the box office, leading to rumors that the show's creators would prioritize a follow-up and capitalize on the brand's popularity.

However, Groening has not been tempted to make a fast buck by spinning out another quick Simpsons film. He has said, "It took us four years (to make) and it killed us. (The movie) stole animators from the show and drained resources."
