'Bates Motel' News, Updates, Spoilers: New Norman Bates Potential Victim Casted for Season 5

A&E's horror television series "Bates Motel" will set its final curtain call after its fifth season. But the prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 Psycho still has a lot of surprises up its sleeves as major casting developments surface before its 2017 premiere date.

Following the buzz surrounding pop star Rihanna's casting as Marion Crane, TVLine exclusively reported that Isabelle McNally (House of Cards) will be starring in "Bates Motel" Season 5 as Madeleine Loomis. McNally's character is described as a warm, kindhearted figure with a "striking resemblance" to Vera Farmiga's Norma Bates.

It's not clear how McNally's Madeleine Loomis plays into the final season of "Bates Motel." But eagle-eyed Hitchcock fans would immediately recognize that last name. In the original "Psycho" film, Marion Crane, then played by Janet Leigh, had a boyfriend named Sam Loomis.

Possible relations with Sam and Marion

Her sharing the last name with Sam may be more than just coincidence, though. TVLine had previously reported that "Bates Motel" is casting its net for a new Sam Loomis for Season 5. He's described as the "sorta sexy devil" for whom Marion Crane will eventually consider embezzling for.

But while Madeleine Loomis might just be Sam's sister, but this being "Bates Motel," it's possible Madeleine could be Sam's wife, TVLine further speculated. After all, the horror series has begun to stray from its source material since Rihanna's casting, who looked nothing like Vera Farmiga.

In the original "Psycho" film, Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) becomes interested in Marion Crane because of the latter's resemblance to his mother. This eventually leads to him killing her in the famous shower scene. But given how McNally's Madeleine shares the same general features with Farmiga's Norma, it's possible that she, not Marion, will end up getting killed by the psychopath in "Bates Motel" Season 5.

Recap of 'Bates Motel' Season 4

It can be recalled that Norma Bates was decisively killed off in the last "Bates Motel" season. But fans need not worry about Farmiga getting axed from the show, as she is still very much central to "Bates Motel" Season 5.

Showrunners Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse confirmed Farmiga's return, saying that the obsession with her is what drives the show's spirit. In "Bates Motel" Season 5, however, viewers would get to see how Norman incarnates "Mother" in his head - and that's bound to be disturbing and creepy as hell.

Excited to see how it will all unfold? "Bates Motel" Season 5 will return to the small screen this 2017.
