'Bates Motel' Season 4 Spoilers: Actor Damon Gupton Joins 'Psycho' Prequel Show As A Shrink

Fans of the hit psychological drama TV series from A&E Network, "Bates Motel," are already excited for the return of the show sometime next year. Although the exact premiere date for Season 4 has yet to be found out, a handful of updates have surfaced earlier this month, including the report of a new character coming to town.

According to the casting report from Deadline.com, "The Player" actor Damon Gupton will be joining the Freddie Highmore-starred drama-thriller for a recurring role.

As detailed by the media outlet, Gupton will be playing the character of a certain Dr. Gregg Edwards. He is a Resident Doctor at Pineview Mental Institution. The site describes the newcomer as a medical professional who "walks a fine line between professional curiosity and personal investment in his patients' lives."

Aside from the NBC show, the SMS Talent-repped actor has also appeared in shows like "Empire," as Detective Calvin, and also in "The Divide" as Adam Page.

As for what to expect in "Bates Motel" Season 4, fans should start bracing themselves for something big that is about to come in the new installment of the show.

In his interview with the people from ComicBook.com, cast member Nestor Carbonell said that while there's nothing much that he can tease of, one thing's for sure though - the new season will be a big one.

"There's a lot of payoff. There's been a lot of set up until now, so there will be payoff," the actor said.

Carbonell, who will also be directing one of the new episodes in the series, particularly points out to the further decay of Norma's (Vera Farmiga) mental state.

"We saw Norma's descent already clearly happening especially through the second half of last season so we'll see more of that to come, no doubt about it," he revealed.

"Bates Motel" Season 4 returns to the small screen in spring 2016.
