Get ready "Bates Motel" fans, Rihanna is your new Marion Crane. This news was announced by the singer-actress herself in a video that was presented at the Bates Motel panel discussion at the International Comic-Con 2016 in San Diego.

Rihanna greeted Bates Motel fans with a special message in the video: "Yes, hello Comic-Con. It's your girl RiRi. And let me tell you what a bad bitch is about to do, " the Needed Me singer said. "I'm about to check in to the Bates Motel very soon. And guess what else. Guess who's playing Marion. Yes, so all you Comic-Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans, stay tuned!"

Rhianna a big fan of Bates Motel

Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin released a statement about why Rihanna was considered for the role. They said that the character Marion which was originally played by Janet Leigh will be redefined through the singer.

"We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we we're huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate." This statement was released after the singer's big reveal.

Fans react to Rihanna on Bates Motel

The shocking casting revelation surprised fans and followers and got mixed comments from fans on social media.

Rachel Whitehurst @RachLWhitehurst said on Twitter: "omg I've been putting off watching the newest season but I gotta catch up now!" Her tweet ended with a hashtag #BatesMotel which was trending on the social media site right after Rihanna broke the news at Comic-Con.

abby @supremebates tweeted a picture of a leather-clad Rihanna with a caption: "Marion Crane is checking into the Bates Motel"

Negative comments also poured in as fans who witnessed foremost the announcement at Comic-Con shared what they have learned. One "Bates Motel" fan Jay Bauman @JayBauman recalled Rihanna's acting in a movie she was in during the early 2000.

Jay Bauman @JayBauman1 tweeted: "Ugh. This is so stupid. Loved the last season of Bates Motel but Rihanna's "acting" was TERRIBLE in Battleship."

Shocking showers start on 2017

Bates Motel begins its fifth and final season on A&E in 2017. Fans will have to wait early 2017 to start watching the final episodes of TV series.
