The turning point in the game in England came when Arsenal were controversially reduced to 10 men, and that has had Gunners' manager Arsene Wenger highlighted how many times his team has suffered over the years by referees quick on pulling out the red card – essentially ruining games for relatively minor offenses.

However, there is a glimmer of hope – last season Arsenal lost against Bayern Munich at home 1-3, only to travel to Munich to win 2-0. That still saw them go out on the away goals rule, but that has given them confidence that they can defeat Bayern in Munich.

If Arsenal can win 2-0 here today it would send the tie into extra time.

In team news, Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs will miss the game due to an ankle injury. In addition, striker Yaya Sanogo (foot) is also out, and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is set to replace Wojciech Szczesny, who is suspended after being sent off in a 2-0 first leg defeat.

Bayern Munich meanwhile have a fully fit squad and that should allow boss Pep Guardiola to play out the game to his precise tactics. Winger Franck Ribery will be a big player returning, after he missed the first leg.
