Baylor's Lady Bears Visit White House

The 2005 Baylor women's national champion basketball team visited the White House as guests of President George W. Bush on Wednesday.

“It is my honor to welcome some highly successful women from the neighborhood,” said Bush, a native Texan.

“The Lady Bears were really great. .. And I want to thank you for being such great athletes and such wonderful role models," said Bush. "And I appreciate you representing Baylor University, which is a great university, so well, with such class.”

After posing for pictures with the president, the team joined the Commander in Chief in the Oval Office, according to the White House.

The Lady Bears are the second Baylor program to win an NCAA team championship, but the first to visit the White House. The men's tennis team won the first NCAA team championship for the world’s largest Baptist institution in 2004.
