'Beauty and the Beast' Spoilers: Season Finale is an 'Emotional Roller Coaster' Tonight

"Beauty and the Beast" returns to The CW on Monday with the season two finale entitled "Déjà Vu."

While the series prepares to close its second season, The CW just renewed "Beauty and the Beast" for a third season this week. The show's executive producer Brad Kern recently discussed tonight's finale, admitting that a different episode would have aired had "Beauty and the Beast" not been renewed.

"We had no idea. The [season] was shot and in the can and the network [saw] all six episodes that the audience had not seen and that factored into their decision to pick it up," the EP told TVGuide. "They liked what they saw and where they saw it going and coupled with the loyal fanbase who watched the show week in and week out are reasons we got the word."

Nevertheless, Kerns prepared for the worst, creating a season two finale that ended on a different note in the event that "Beauty and the Beast" was not renewed.

"We designed it as a possible series finale and frankly, we saved up a lot of money to be able to make it big and epic in case it was the end. We felt we owed the loyal audience a special ending, but we also put in the elements that would allow us to build off of it if we were lucky enough to get Season 3," the Kerns.

As for the season two finale that airs tonight entitled "Déjà Vu," Kerns said the episode is "an emotional roller coaster that ends a chapter of Beauty and the Beast, but hints at the next chapter," AKA season three.

"Beauty and the Beast" airs on The CW Mondays at 9 p.m. EST. The synopsis for "Déjà Vu" is as follows: "Cat fears Vincent must die in order for Gabe to be stopped in the season 2 finale."
