Best Sleep Apps for iPhone: Free iPhone Apps That Promise Healthy, Restful Sleep

Sleep is a vital part of a healthy day, and one that most working people may not get a lot of. With today's busy lifestyle, getting continuous, quality sleep becomes more and more of a challenge. Here, technology comes to the rescue in the form of mobile apps that promote peace of mind and a healthy sleep — and users don't have to pay to enjoy a good night's rest, either.

Take a look at a couple of free options for the iPhone for a more invigorating sleep schedule this 2017.

"Calm"

"Calm" claims to be the number one app "for mindfulness and meditation to bring more clarity, joy and peace to your daily life." While this iPhone downloadable mostly caters to practitioners of guided meditation, "Calm" includes nature sounds and scenes to ready users for their bedtime. The app also features "Sleep Stories," bedtime stories for adults and users of all ages designed to coax them to sleep.

The app is free, and is supported by subscribers who can pay a monthly fee to get access to their library of guided meditation programs, and new "Sleep Stories" as they are updated.

"Rain Rain Sleep" Sounds

An app by Tim Gostony, its claim to fame is the time that the software was featured on ABC as one of the "Best Apps to Battle Anxiety." "Rain Rain Sleep Sounds" features high-quality tracks that can be looped seamlessly to lull listeners to their nightly rest. The ambient sounds can also be mixed and matched to discover which combination works best for sleeping in different situations.

The tracks include sounds like "Rain: Dripping," "Rain: Rain on a Tent," "Appliances: Washing Machine" or "Nature: Crackling Fire," to give a general idea of the tracks that come with the app. "Rain Rain Sleep Sounds" is free to download and use, and provides the option for users to buy more tracks in the app.
