Fallout 4 Release Date News: Bethesda Announces Cancellation of Prey 2, Fallout 4 Getting Full Focus?

There's still no official news regarding the release date of "Fallout 4," but there has been some news that indicates all hands are on deck to get the new game out as soon as possible - something that will delight fans.

Bethesda had some cancellation announcements during the Penny Arcade Expo Australia a few days ago. No, it wasn't Fallout getting cut, but another sequel.

"Prey 2," a sequel to the game of the same name from 2006, has been officially declared as a cancelled project.

Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines had announced the cancellation himself, saying that the game was not up to their quality standards.

"It was a game we believed in, but we never felt that it got to where it needed to be – we never saw a path to success if we finished it. It wasn't up to our quality standard, and we decided to cancel it," Hines had said.

"It's no longer in development. That wasn't an easy decision, but it's one that won't surprise many folks given that we hadn't been talking about it. Human Head Studios is no longer working on it. It's a franchise we still believe we can do something with – we just need to see what that something is," he adds.

In the meantime, the cancellation of "Prey 2" has brought forth rumors that "Fallout 4" will be getting Bethesda's full focus. Still, there has been no announcement about the game during PAX Australia and considering it was not included in the cancellation announcement, it's at least safe to say that there will be a "Fallout 4."

However, until Bethesda themselves announces details about the game, fans will be kept in the dark. Speculations point that the earliest we can hear about the game will be 2015.
