Beyonce Knowles is opening up firsthand about her tips for losing 57 pounds after giving birth to her 1-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
While some media sources previously reported about the 31-year-old singer adhering to a vegan diet, she admitted to having a bit more flexibility in her meal plans.
"I always have breakfast, say, scrambled egg whites, a vegetable smoothie, or whole-grain cereal with low-fat milk," Knowles told Shape magazine. "For lunch and dinner, I eat a lot of fish and vegetables. And throughout the day, I try to stay hydrated … I always treat myself to one meal on Sundays when I can have whatever I want. Usually it's pizza, which is my favorite indulgence."
Still, the singer admitted that the grueling demands of scheduling performances months after her birth also helped her shed weight faster.
"I didn't have a lot of time to lose the weight because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I would never do again," Knowles told Shape. "For me, dancing is what keeps me active and I would just say everyone is not meant to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you you."
The singer admitted that she has to work hard to maintain her body because of her natural shape.
"I gained 57 pounds when I was pregnant," she told Shape. "I'm not a person that is naturally very thin, I am a person who has to work to keep my body in shape."
Knowles has admitted that there are no quick fixes when it comes to getting and staying in shape.
"I'll put on a song that I really like and do biceps curls with 5-pound weights for the whole song," Knowles previously told Self magazine. "I can't eat what I want, and I can't not go to the gym … There are no quick, easy secrets. The truth is, it's a lot of sacrifice. It's more about your mental strength than your physical strength."
