SAT-7, an indigenous Arab Christian satellite broadcasting company, will begin airing the “Alpha” program next month. Reaching around 115 million people, SAT-7 can be accessed by 38 percent of the 300 million people in the Middle East.
“Alpha,” a Bible study program that originated in the United Kingdom, is used in churches around the world for evangelism and discipleship. The program, geared toward beginners in faith, include topics such as “Why should I believe the Bible?", “Who is Jesus?”, “Why am I here?", and “Does God Exist?”.
The non-broadcast program includes a meal, fellowship, discussion and biblically-based teaching. The answers are arrived at through non-threatening discussion and interactive sharing, rather than a preaching method – the principles of “permission evangelism.”
The broadcast program will encourage audience response and will allow viewers to interact with local co-working churches and other agencies.
"Alpha" adds a new flavor to SAT-7 which already broadcasts over 80 hours of Christian programming every week. More than 60 percent of programming is created by Arab Christians for Arab viewers.
