'Big Hero 6' 2 News: Sequel Talk Sparked as Director Chris Williams Talks Follow-Up Film

Hitting the box office with a staggering $520 million in worldwide sales last year, it wouldn't be a surprise if the hit 3D superhero action movie "Big Hero 6" will soon be followed up by a sequel.

However, amidst the enthusiasm, it was revealed that the people behind the hugely successful computer-animated Disney film weren't entertaining the thought of making a sequel just yet.

Directors Chris Williams and Don Hall informed the publication that they are still "exhausted" from the first movie.

"We'll see. We just finished this one, and the truth is, we're exhausted from the ordeal of making it. It was really fun, but it was long hours, and it was pretty intense," Williams told Variety. "It's a pretty emotional time for us. These are characters that we've grown to know very well, now it's time to let go of them, and they're going into the world without us."

But this doesn't mean that they are already closing their doors for a "Big Hero 6" Part II.

"We haven't talked about or thought about any sequels or anything like that. Having said that, of course, we love these characters, and the thought of working with them again some day definitely has its appeal," he went on to say.

Sharing their thoughts on the matter, Screen Rant meanwhile indicated that the Academy, Annie, Golden Globe, and BAFTA award nominated film could still just work out fine as a "self-contained story" should they decide to stop at the first.

"If the movie never gets a sequel or ever continues on in some other form (like as a Disney XD animated series), then it will still be able to stand up well on its own," Screen Rant reported.

For the meantime, the "Big Hero 6" Blu-Ray and DVD versions will be hitting the shelves this Feb. 24.
