'Mass Effect 4' Release Date, New Characters Latest News: BioWare to Launch Game With New Characters

"Mass Effect 4" is coming out in 2016 with new characters.

The success of "Dragon Age: Inquisition" fueled rumors that BioWare will release "Mass Effect 4" with a new formula. Creative director Mac Walters hinted about it in an interview with IGN.

"Well, I can't get into details, but the idea is that we have agreed to tell a story that doesn't relate necessarily to any of the Shepard events at all, whatsoever. That's what we've been deciding for a while. But throughout it all, one of the key things is that it has to be Mass Effect," Walter said.

The director continued to explain the importance of the game's concept.

"It can't just feel like a spin-off. It has to feel like a Mass Effect game at its heart, at its core. Just without the Shepard character or the Shepard specific companions," Walter added.

Fans became more excited as BioWare producer Mike Gamble teased about the release on Twitter. The tweet may mean that "Mass Effect 4" can already be played at BioWare.

Gamble tweeted: "The Mass Effect team has created a fantastic build to cap off 2014. So much diversity, so beautiful. Best Christmas present ever."

BioWare has announced that they will be applying some themes from "Dragon Age: Inquisition" in "Max Effect 4." The new game will be on the right track if they can reproduce a wide galaxy rather than a small planet.

Different speculations rose as to why the release of the game is taking so long. The new galaxy might be the reason. Another report surfaced that the delay is caused by the multiple languages in "Max Effect 4" or the files are not yet compressed.

As of this time, fans still have to wait for BioWare's official statement regarding the plotline, characters and release date of "Max Effect 4."
