As people get ready for Black Friday and the shopping season, it would be wise to plan not only the spending budget but also a most desired presents list to avoid giving an unwanted gift.
"What do kids want for these holidays?" is a popular question asked this time of the year and according to a survey conducted by Nielsen in October 2011 on a sample of 3,000 people with no age specification, the number one answer is the iPad.
44 percent of kids aged 6-12 selected the iPad as what they were most interested in buying the next 6 months while the iPod Touch was the second most desired product among the age group with 30 percent of the votes.
27 percent voted for the iPhone while 25 percent opted they wanted a computer. Gaming consoles accounted for the 6th, 7th, and 8th position with the Nintendo 3DS with 25 percent, Kinect for Xbox 360 23 percent, and the Nintendo DS with 22 percent. E-readers came in 13th place with 17 percent and other mobile phones in the 15th place with 12 percent.
Among the age group 13+, the list changed significantly although the number one spot remained the same with 24 percent desiring an iPad. In 2nd place, 18 percent of the people responded wanting a computer and the 3rd most desired product was the e-reader with 18 percent.
The consequent sequence follows as:
Television set - 17%
Tablet Computer - 17%
Blu-Ray Player - 16%
iPhone - 15%
Smartphone(non-iPhone) - 14%
Kinect for Xbox 360 - 12%
Nielson concluded that "electronics are well-positioned to find their way onto shoppers' lists again this season – and parents will clearly have some tough decisions to make as they weigh kids' wants against their holiday budgets."
