BlackBerry Android Phones Rumored to Have Arrived in India for Testing

Earlier reports claimed that BlackBerry is finally releasing its own line of Android phones, after its failed attempt to revive its business with a new line of smartphones with its own proprietary software. The company's first foray into the Android market will be through two smartphones, called Venice and Dallas. Reports also showed some leaked images of the rumored devices.

A new report is now claiming that both devices have already arrived in India for testing. According to a report in Tech Times, a website called Zauba which is said to track imports and exports that come in and out of India has listed both BlackBerry Venice and Dallas to have reached the country, which meant that both devices were up for evaluation. The listing detailed that two units of the Dallas and five units of the Venice were received in the country from Canada on July 4.

The value listed for the Dallas is Rs. 24,623 or approximately $388, while the Venice is priced at Rs. 63,262 or approximately $997. The report also said that the BlackBerry Dallas, which is also known by another name the BlackBerry Oslo has already "received certification from Indonesia's e-Postel, Malaysia's e-CoM and Singapore's IDA, which are seen as the equivalent of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC)."

The Dallas is reported to have the same specifications as the BlackBerry Passport released in September 2014, but will have "some external design tweaks," which were not detailed in the report. The phone will reportedly have a 1,440 by 1,440 IPS LCD display with a resolution of 453 pixels per inch (ppi). It is also rumored to run on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3 GB of RAM.

As for the BlackBerry Venice, if rumors are true, it will have a 5.4-inch quad-FD display with a 2,560 by 1,440 display resolution. It will have more powerful processor, a 64-bit 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3 GB of RAM. Its rear-facing camera will reportedly be a 18-megapixel one, while its front-facing camera will be at 5-megapixel.

Neither the BlackBerry Venice nor the BlackBerry Dallas has been officially announced by BlackBerry.
