Blackberry Messenger for Android Download Rolling Out Soon

The Blackberry messenger for Android download will be rolling out soon for African Samsung device owners.

The company announced today that the new app will be available in its Google Play store and will become part of the Samsung Messaging Hub sometime in the very near future.

"At Samsung we are all about collaboration, innovation and driving consumer experience based on choice, value and customization to suit every lifestyle. As such, bringing a top tier messaging service such as BBM is another way that we are expanding the catalogue of our messaging services and offering customers an amazing way to stay instantly connected with colleagues, friends and family," said George Ferreira, VP and COO of Samsung Electronics Africa.

Both Samsung and BlackBerry are confident in the software and believe it will bring a new experience to users of Galaxy devices.

"BBM provides one of the best and most robust mobile messaging experiences today. BBM has always set the standard for mobile instant messaging and we are thrilled to bring this experience to Samsung customers across Africa," said Andrew Bocking, Executive Vice President BBM at Blackberry. "BBM is loved by people who rely on fast, trusted messaging, along with the immediacy that our delivered and read statuses bring. Samsung customers will soon join the BBM nation in its love of the "D" and "R" notifications."

The BBM app download will be available for free once the company begins rolling it out.

The BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone download is now available in the form of a new beta.

BlackBerry, the company formerly known as Research in Motion, was originally expected to bring BBM to Android back in 2011. However, that never came to fruition. Apple ended up releasing a similar feature for its iPhone with iMessage. There have also been other proprietary messaging systems that have caught steam in recent years including Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and GroupMe.
