BlackBerry Passport, BlackBerry Classic Smartphone Updates: Inventory Issues Are A Good Sign for Canada Company

BlackBerry has undoubtedly been successful in once again reinstating their name in the competitive world of smart mobile phones.

John Chen, the current CEO of BBM, can be held responsible for bringing back the company to its feet after it lost huge profits and market share to tech giants like Apple, Samsung, and Google.

Talking about sales, the BlackBerry Passport is reported to be doing great. It's been selling so well that there have actually been inventory issues.

As reported by Bloomberg, the device has already pre-sold 200,000 units in just two days it was opened for pre-orders. Within six hours, it sold out in the BlackBerry website while it only took 10 hours for Amazon to exhaust its stock on the device.

"I'm glad to have inventory issues. It shows that people want the phone. We took a very conservative approach and didn't order too many," Chen told the Bloomberg.

The square-screen smartphone is primarily designed for business-related activities like emailing, document readings, spreadsheets, and other "functional" essentials.

"BlackBerry was focused on the 30 percent of the market that sees their phones as a tool, not as an entertainment portal," the executive for the Canadian-based tech company added.

On related news, the brand new BlackBerry Classic will also be officially unveiled this coming November. It is expected to be shown with a physical QWERTY trackpad and retro function keys.

According to reports, the rigid smartphone will be running on BlackBerry 10 OS.
