BlackBerry Passport news: New video flaunts device smoothly running Android Lollipop

A new video has emerged showing the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition running Android Lollipop clearly, as consumers await the smartphone rumored to be launched this year.

The device appears to be the same device that was leaked out earlier this year, but since it is a video, a good view of the rumored Android-powered device is provided. Experts deem that BlackBerry has started to take Android seriously as it now sports the prowess and abilities of the Lollipop treat.

It is also noteworthy that the previous "Venice" slider could solidify BlackBerry's attempts to test and conclude which is the best OS for its next device. While the video raises nothing but additional speculations, it does credit the previous leaks and rumors surrounding the smartphone.

The non-English clip shows how the silver and black phone runs the Android home screen, app drawer, and even Google Play.

Several BlackBerry-trademark features can be seen, and a report by The Verge states that what the video shows is an unlikely home project where a tech genius may have just worked hours into stocking the Android treat onto the BlackBerry phone.

Meanwhile, CrackBerry notes that the clip may be one of the company's ways of testing the system on existing hardware, addressing doubts as to why the company suddenly decided to relaunch the Passport.

Other tech outlets suggest that the company just may be going on high gear mode for its Android movements, even as it continues to sell other devices such as the BlackBerry 10. Rumor has it that the Passport will probably borrow several features from the mentioned device, such as the BlackBerry Hub.

Although still unconfirmed by the company, Android's entry into the Passport saw many fans expressing excitement and anticipation for the upcoming smartphone.

On the other hand, some consumers have commented that BlackBerry's move on testing the Android Lollipop should not indicate that the company is letting go of its own operating system.
