BlackBerry Priv News: Availability Expanded To Other UK Retailers

U.K.'s Carphone Warehouse used to sell the BlackBerry Priv exclusively since the phone was launched in November 2015. They were the only other retailer selling the device outside of Shop BlackBerry, the company's official online store. Recently however, this exclusivity seemed to have ended as the device is now available from other online retailers in the U.K., according to a report in CrackBerry.

The report listed other online retailers such as Mobile Phones Direct and Unlocked Mobiles now carrying the device. UK's mobile carrier, Vodafone, is also selling the device.

Through online retailer Unlocked Mobiles, the device can be bought unlocked and SIM free for only £545 (or $785), which, according to the report, is £14 cheaper than what is on offer at Shop BlackBerry and even Carphone Warehouse. Unlocked Mobiles also has international shipping available, so technically, they can offer the device to other countries where the device is not yet available. The device comes with a two-year warranty. Consumers in the UK can get the device the next day, if they place their order before 5 p.m. the day before.

The other online retailer, Mobile Phones Direct, sells an unlocked Priv for £510 (or $732), which is much cheaper than Unlocked Mobiles. Next day delivery however is not available, with the device being delivered within three days after purchase. Mobile Phones Direct also offers the Priv on contract, which, according to the report, offers better pricing compared to Carphone Warehouse.

Vodafone is now the only carrier which carries the device. The device is available for a two-year contract and with a variety of plans to choose from. According to the report, the cheapest plan available has an upfront fee of £9 or $13 and a monthly cost of £40 or $70, which comes with unlimited calls and SMS, as well as 6 GB of data every month. Purchase can be done online and the device will be delivered within 2 to 4 days. In-store purchase is also possible.
