BlackBerry Q20 Classic Release Date, News: New Video Flaunts Keyboard Shortcuts

In February, BlackBerry unveiled the iteration of their well-loved physical QWERTY smartphones, the Q20 or the BlackBerry Classic. It recently went up for a pre-order this week and is reported to hit the shelves on Dec. 17.

The Canada-based telecommunications company, meanwhile, created a buzz around the tech world when it released another new video showing the quick keyboard shortcuts integrated on the upcoming device.

In the YouTube video (which will be provided below) it featured the handset's Classic physical QWERTY keyboard and some of its quick functions which, as the presenter added, is already known in the older BlackBerry Bold.

First he showed the "Q" which when long-pressed, will turn the phone profile to Silent. Pressing "I" will also allow the user to customize and set-up the phone's short-cut. Then there's "K," which is also a shortcut for lockscreen function.

Earlier on, the tech firm stressed that the physical QWERTY keyboard is "designed to boost productivity." And in their blog post, they once again emphasized the essential functions of their signature smartphone feature.

"The great news for you is, in addition to the easy, familiar navigation made possible by the Classic Navigation Keys, the QWERTY keyboard comes with time-saving default shortcuts. Take advantage of these, or customise them to suit your personal needs. As you once could on your beloved BlackBerry Bold, you can make use of nearly every letter in the physical keyboard and give it an action like Speed Dial for a contact, or use them to launch your most-used apps," they stated.

Other than its keyboard and navigation key functions, the BlackBerry Classic smartphone is also said to arrive with a 3.46-inch display with a 720x720 pixel resolution; a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus CPU with 2GB or RAM; an 8-megapixel rear camera coupled with a 2MP front snapper; and a 16GB of inbuilt storage.
