BlackBerry RIO Z20 Release Date, Specs Details: Leaked Photos Reveal Touchscreen
BlackBerry has been known to launch new-gen smartphones with full QWERTY keyboards. However, this could not mean that the Waterloo, Canada-based tech giant will abandon any plans in integrating the already proliferating touchscreen-only user technology on its upcoming devices.
For the fact, BlackBerry Limited has introduced touchscreen-only devices in their digital handset lines. But it went downhill in most markets due to the lack of apps.
Recent reports now suggest that BlackBerry may take another swing at the touchscreen technology with its purported next-gen mid-range smartphone called the BlackBerry RIO Z20.
The news came off when a series of pictures leaked online showing the full specs of the device and its overall design.
First sighted in N4BB.com, the leaked images were then picked up by several other sites to report that this handset could be BlackBerry's "first major touchscreen only device" ever since the BlackBerry Z30 tablet came out in 2013.
According to BGR.com, the device appears to be a "successor of sorts to the BlackBerry Z10 and Z30."
The website, who in turn cited N4BB, indicated that the smartphone may have a mid-range of specs which would include a 5-inch display with a 128- x 720 pixel resolution display. The spec sheet also showed that the RIO will have an 8 MP primary camera and an MSM 8960 dual-core 1.5 GHz processor with 2GB worth of RAM.
It will be powered by a 2,800 mAh battery and will have a 16GB worth of internal memory storage space.
N4BB went on to add in their report that the alleged BlackBerry Z20 will be promoted as an affordable mobile device for professionals:
"Power Pros who want to be considered by others as being current with technology, yet cost is a major consideration in their purchase decision," the site reported.
From the looks of it, the RIO Z20 could be BlackBerry's next and first smartphone to be introduced in the coming year of 2015.
