Blackphone 2 comes with new version of secure OS

Blackphone 2 is more secure than ever because Silent Circle has updated its privacy-centered mobile operating system.

The all-new Blackphone 2 still builds on the concept of a spy-proof yet consumer-friendly smartphone, much like the first Blackphone. But the new secure smartphone comes with even more improved features, according to NBC News.

The Blackphone 2 is definitely larger and faster than its predecessor. It boasts of a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 1.7-gigahertz octa-core processor, a 13-megapixel rear camera, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB, Information Week reports.

Its 3,060 mAh battery can be charged fast using Qualcomm's QuickCharge 2.0 technology.

The new privacy-centered smartphone allows users to send and make encrypted messages and calls, and determine which WiFi connections are not secure. Aside from that, it also separates your Facebook and Snapchat activities from the rest of your secure activities. This feature prevents malware from invading your files, the report details.

Although the Blackphone 2 is not a hundred percent spy-proof, hacking into the device would still be very difficult. The device runs Silent OS, an Android fork that does not use Google Services such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and Play Store.

Aside from the internal improvements, the Blackphone 2 also has updated external features. It now has a new design with its glass front and back. The HD screen is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The Blackphone 2, which is made for security-conscious executives and professionals, is now available for preorder and will be released in September, the report adds.

As of now, details about the device are still scant. The price is also still unavailable, but it is pegged at around $600, the price of the original Blackphone. Consumers who want to get a hold of the Blackphone 2 will have to get in touch with Silent Circle to find out how to order the secure smartphone.
