'BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle' Latest News: Arc System Works Announces Three More Fighters Added to Game's Roster

"BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle" maker Arc System Works has not yet revealed a specific release date for their mash-up fighting game. They have kept up their campaign to build up hype in the meantime, however, having just put out new trailers for three new characters.

The new characters were confirmed for the upcoming game's roster just this Monday, Oct. 16, complete with their own introduction trailer. Two of the characters, Rachel Alucard and Hazama, hail from Arc System Works' own "BlazBlue" series. The last one, Weiss Schnee, is one of the four main girls of the "RWBY" series.

With the introduction teaser comes a preview of their fighting styles as well. Rachel Alucard delights in tormenting opponents with a mix of close-up attacks and ranged moves. Hazama, meanwhile, ditches subtlety and opts to overwhelm with combo strings.

Weiss, like Rachel, opts for the tactical approach of rapier stabs and ranged attacks, leaning more on the latter, as GameSpot recaps.

While not much is known on the progress Arc System Works have made into the game, it's common knowledge that they will have their hands full folding in multiple series into a single title. There's their own "BlazBlue" franchise, a series they have kept running for years alongside the "Guilty Gear" games, as PC GamesN recalls.

They've added fighters from the popular "Persona 4" series, and this will be the first time that these characters will be seen on PC. With the first two, they're also adding roster members of "Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late" by French Bread, a gothic-themed fighting game.

Lately, they have also decided to add in the U.S.-made "RWBY," an anime-styled CG animated series that's become a cult favorite of anime fans.

Rachel Alucard, Hazama, and Weiss Schnee will be joining the fight in the upcoming "BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle" game, which is set to be released for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in 2018.
