From last week's presentation, Mayuri has been depicted as weary over the upcoming fight, and there are speculations he may lose the battle against Pernida, unless he considers using poison.

One prediction has Mayuri either using a modified Bankai, even if he does not possess the ability to modify its shape or restore the Bankai's blade.

Another option would be to infect the Soul King with nerve-damaging poison. Although how Mayuri is going to get close enough to administer it is anyone's guess.

The drug will likely have to be secreted in his clothing in order to poison Pernida, and there may be a possibility Mayuri won't totally vanquish the Soul King but instead administer the poison as a way to see what its effect would be without having to kill his foe. This can be accomplished by changing the poison's characteristics.

The means to administer the poison is also a point in question as lacking a set of lungs, the giant arm Pernida will be unable to inhale the drug.

Speculations have also emerged that the Shinigami, who have accompanied Mayuri to witness the fight, might actually change the battle's outcome, particularly in the case of Hantaro Yamada with his healing powers that can recharge Mayuri with the energy to defeat the Soul King.

"Bleach" Chapter 639 is expected to be released on August 20 with the final outcome of the Mayuri-Pernida battle.
