'Bloodline' Season 3 News: Why Danny's Presence is Still Vital in New Season

Danny Will Still Be a Part of the Rayburn Family

Though the release of "Bloodline" Season 2 happened just a couple of weeks ago, there are already hints about what the upcoming season of the Netflix series will bring.

Danny's Presence

Though the series has yet to be renewed by Netflix, the co-creator of "Bloodline" Glenn Kessler recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about what Season 3 could offer. Kessler explained that even though Danny Rayburn died Season 1, his presence will still play a vital role in the episodes to come.

As the show continues being a dark family drama, fans will get to see how Danny's death will impact his family. Kessler said, "It feels like the DNA of the show is really informed by Danny's influence on his family, so that will always be there, either in death or being haunted by his memory. At the center of this tragedy is the effect of this black-sheep brother on the family. So we never want to get too far from his murder and we never want to get too far from the influence he had on his family."

He also said that the Rayburn siblings will continue dealing with the aftermath of their actions. With that, "Bloodline" Season 3 will explore their struggle with living a life of lies.

John's Hysteria

The past season saw John Rayburn (Kyle Chandler) experience the real effect of Danny's absence. His past was also explored, showing chilhood flashbacks that, apparently, played a big role on how Danny's personality came to be.

Kessler added, "In effect that person's psyche is being given voice to and it's in the voice of that person. It is the part of John that overlaps with Danny's psyche and Danny's mentality is being given voice to in the form of Danny. John, who is struggling with things within himself, John's Danny-like qualities are being given voice to."

The creator also stated that they wanted to portray the closeness between Danny and John, and how John is now affected by Danny's death. He elaborated, "There was an intimacy of that relationship that led to that killing. And now that Danny's gone, John is still dealing with that intimacy and that part of himself, which is like Danny. He can't get away from it, Danny's influence on his life. It was something we wanted to explore, and it gave rise to another way of how we could use Ben."
