'Bloodline' Season 3 Spoilers: Danny's Death to be Avenged by Son Nolan; Is He Really Dead?

Fans are dying to find out where John, with Danny's ghost in the passenger seat, is headed after leaving the Keys.

Rumors of the Netflix's original drama series' cancellation have been circulating since its second season's release but it was not until last month that the streaming platform giant confirmed that "Bloodline" Season 3 will indeed be its last. No less than the vice president for original content of Netflix Cindy Holland addressed the cancellation.

Visionary storytellers and prestigious cast

Her official statement included praises for Glenn Kessler, Todd Kessler and Daniel Zelman as the series' co-creators. Holland called them thoughtful and visionary storytellers. She also heaped praises on the prestigious cast that include Ben Mendelsohn and Kyle Chandler who both earned Emmy acting nominations for their roles in "Bloodline".

Mendelsohn went on to win the outstanding supporting actor Emmy in the drama series category. It was also revealed in Holland's statement that "Bloodline" Season 3 will be released on May 2017.

Nolan plans revenge

Reports suggest that "Bloodline" Season 3 will see the return of Danny Rayburn (Mendelsohn) in order to avenge his death on his killers. His son Nolan Rayburn (Owen Teague) will launch his own investigation on who is responsible for his father's death. He will soon discover that the killer is actually his uncle John Rayburn (Chandler).

Various scenarios have come up on how Nolan's discovery will end up in "Bloodline" Season 3. According to some speculations, Nolan will hate John so much for killing his father that he will also kill him. But, it will later be revealed in the series that Danny just faked his own death and was still alive.

Mendelsohn's uncertain return

His character might have died at the end of the first season but Mendelsohn returned for the second season with Danny seen in flashbacks and in ghost-like visions seen by his killer, his younger brother John. However, until recently it wasn't clear if the actor will be back for "Bloodline" Season 3.

Back in June, Mendelsohn admitted that there have been no solid discussions on his return to "Bloodline" Season 3 which made his future in the series uncertain. The actor is also set to appear in two big movies, the Star Wars spinoff "Rogue One" and the upcoming Steven Spielberg movie "Ready Player One".

Destination unknown

There are a lot of questions that have risen from last season's finale that viewers hope will be answered in "Bloodline" Season 3. The biggest one may be where John's destination will be.

When last seen by the viewers, John was speeding his way out of the Florida Keys. Danny's apparition, who was in the passenger seat asked him where they were headed.

Kyle Chandler wouldn't speculate where his character's destination is but he said in an interview that it would be revealed in "Bloodline" Season 3. EP Glenn Kessler says a clue to John's destination can be found in a flashback scene in an episode last season. The brothers were still in their teens and Danny was teaching John how to smoke.

Danny told his younger brother that he planned to get out of the Keys. He basically told him to get out of the place and save himself if he wanted to be free and got to be who he wanted to be. Kessler said that "Bloodline" Season 3 will pick up on that idea and will show what John will do with it. But, John's leaving the Keys will give rise to more questions including the future of his campaign for sheriff.
