Erin advises Danny to rein in his temper or it might cause him a murder trial

The premiere of "Blue Bloods" Season 7 will focus on Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) facing an investigation over the death of serial killer Thomas Wilder (Louis Cancelmi) last season. A trailer released had scenes of Danny being grilled by a lawyer during a trial for the case.

Wilder's case reopened

Previously thought of as already a closed case, the death of Thomas Wilder comes back to haunt Danny in "Blue Bloods" Season 7. New evidence has surfaced which may have reversed the previous court ruling that led to the case being reopened.

In the previous season of "Blue Bloods", Danny may have crossed the line in killing Wilder because of revenge in involving his niece in his deadly game. During their final encounter, Wilder bluffed him into thinking he had a gun which forced Danny to shoot him as an act of self defense.

A lawyer from the Attorney General's office is out to prove that Danny's self defense alibi is a lie and that there is evidence showing Danny killed the serial killer because he had become a huge threat to his family's safety.

No regrets being a cop

There is also a scene in the trailer of "Blue Bloods" Season 7 where Danny asks Frank (Tom Selleck) if he ever has regrets being a cop. Frank replied that he may have plenty of regrets in life but being a police officer is not one of them.

Another scene shows Erin (Bridget Moynahan) advising Danny on how to answer when he gets questioned by the District Attorney. She told him to slow down when he talks because his temper and attitude might cause him a murder trial.

The first episode titled "The Greater Good" shows that what are really at stake in the trial are the Reagan family's name and legacy which might be tarnished by the murder case against Danny.

Back as Police Commissioner

Upon learning that the case was reopened, Frank immediately tendered his resignation as Police Commissioner to the Mayor, who turned it down. In "Blue Bloods" Season 7, Frank will have to make a choice whether to help Grace Edwards (Lori Loughlin), who begged him to talk her son out of joining the police force. She is the widow of a slain police officer so her request makes sense.

Spoilers for "Blue Bloods" Season 7 say that his love life will be put in the spotlight. If ever, this will be his second shot at love after the death of his wife. No details of who this new woman in Frank's life will be have been given out yet.

The other Blue Bloods

The other members of the Reagan family are Erin and Jamie. Erin is an Assistant D.A. in Manhattan. Unlike Danny who does his job in unorthodox ways, Erin makes sure to go by the books.

Jamison "Jamie" Reagan is the youngest of the Reagan children who has a law degree from Harvard. After working for a law firm, he decided to leave the practice of law and joined the NYPD instead. Frank has another son, Joe, who died while on the line of duty as a policeman.

"Blue Bloods" trademark scene is the Sunday dinner around a large table at Frank's home where his father Henry (Len Cariou) also lives. Henry himself is a former Police Commissioner who rose from the ranks. Each week, the four generations of Blue Bloods gather to eat and discuss the often controversial cases depicted in each episode.

New episodes of "Blue Bloods" Season 7 will be seen beginning on September 23 on CBS.
