Blue Ivy Carter's Reported Lavish Birthday Shocks Fans

Blue Ivy Carter, the one-year-old baby of high-profile entertainers Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, may have recently had a birthday party that cost more than some people's homes.

The baby's birthday party that took place last week reportedly cost her parents over $200,000. What some may find even more surprising is that the baby reportedly received a diamond-encrusted barbie doll that cost upwards of $80,000, according to The Sun.

The publication reported that the baby was the recipient of a birthday party with a princess theme, with a source reportedly telling the publication that Blue Ivy's high-profile parents would spare her no expense.

"Nothing's been too big or expensive for their little princess," the source reportedly said. "They wanted her first birthday to set the tone for the rest of her life."

According to the unnamed source for The Sun, the baby's first birthday party may be hard to outdo.

"They work hard for their money and the first thing they want to spend it on is their baby girl," the source reportedly told the publication. "It's hard to imagine how they can top this next year -- or what her Sweet Sixteen will be like."

Various people heard about the media reports concerning Blue Ivy's birthday party and questioned her expensive gifts.

"The truly over-the-top expenditure was for Blue Ivy's dazzling gift -- a spectacular diamond-encrusted Barbie doll that cost $80,000," one person tweeted.

Another person did not seem to understand giving a baby such lavish gifts tweeting, "...She won't even remember."

However 31-year-old Knowles told People magazine that she plans to teach her daughter about the important things in life other than the aesthetic.

"My biggest thing is to teach [Blue] not to focus on the aesthetic," Knowles told People last May."It's really about who you are, and the human being, that makes you beautiful."
