Bono to Receive Honor at UPenn

Bono, frontman of U2, will be delivering the commencement address on May 17 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. It is expected that he will discuss his work at DATA: Debt AIDS Traffic Africa, whose goal is to bring awareness to the growing problem of AIDS in Africa, and to funds to fight against this.

During the ceremony, Bono will also receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.

"With his tireless efforts and use of his celebrity to remind us of our moral duties as citizens of the globe, Bono has been a powerful force for change, galvanizing the action of presidents, countries and the general public," Penn president Judith Rodin said in a statement.

A U2 CD/DVD will be released April 5 of the benefit concert for AIDS held in Cape Town, South Africa. It was part of the 46664 campaign, inspired by Nelson Mandela, and named by his prison number.
