More than just the action on the pitch, this marks the first time Jurgen Klopp will face his former team as the Liverpool manager used to take the side of Dortmund as he led the German squad to great triumphs during his time with the club.

Now leading the Liverpool team, expect an intense battle between the two as they attempt to get big wins in the first leg of the competition.

Undoubtedly the best team on paper left in the competition, and Dortmund has already eliminated an English outfit when they faced Tottenham Hotspur in the previous round.

Showing dominance over the Spurs, Dortmund opened up a 3-0 victory in the first leg of the competition, as they would eventually gain victory over Tottenham even in the away leg to take the battle 5-1.

Now they are hoping to display a similar performance against Liverpool, especially in the home tie.

On the other hand, Liverpool is desperately trying to go back to their glory days as a European powerhouse and is slowly improving each season.

They were very impressive in their previous round as they faced bitter rivals Manchester United.

Liverpool took control of the matchup with a 2-0 win at Anfield and held United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford to take the series 3-1 on aggregate.

Having already eliminated another favorite in the competition, Liverpool will try to get a big result in Germany before heading back home for the second leg.
