'Boruto: Naruto Next Generations' Plot News, Spoilers: Series Introduces a New Mizukage Candidate
There may be a new Mizukage in "Boruto."
The anime hasn't gotten that far yet, with only 27 episodes aired, but it looks like the show has already found a new child prodigy in the latest episode of "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations." In the episode, viewers see the continuation of the Konoha students' tour of the Hidden Mist village and the struggles they face while trying to enjoy their so-called retreat.
What's interesting about this new episode is that the Hidden Mist village had just recently installed a new Mizukage, Chojuro. The blue-haired warrior is actually one of the of Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and Fifth Mizukage Mei Terumi's devoted follower. However, while Chojuro's tenure is just beginning, he is already eyeing someone to replace him and that is where Kaguro is introduced.

Kagura bears a lot of resemblance to the fourth Mizukage Yagura. Fans of "Naruto" and "Naruto Shippuden" would remember Yagura as one of the jinchuurikis killed and raised to life by Obito Uchiha. The show has yet to confirm if these two characters are in fact related, but if there is one thing that can be noticed about Kagura, it's his lack of confidence.
Even Chojuro had noticed this fact, which is why he orchestrated a battle between Boruto and Kagura, to try and boost the latter's confidence. Unfortunately, viewers have yet to see Kagura's true potential, but he could possibly showcase his abilities in the episode since, at the end of it, their friend Denki has been kidnapped and they must now work together to rescue him.
Furthermore, Kagura also seemed to be hiding a dark past, and if his connections to Yagura are valid, this may be the reason. Unfortunately, viewers would have to wait until Wednesday, at 5:25 p.m. JST, to find out more about this interesting new character.
