Boston Celtics Trade Rumors: Celtics Interested In Acquiring Dwight Howard; GM Explains Deal With Brooklyn Nets

The Boston Celtics are thinking of beefing up their frontline by acquiring the services of Houston Rockets big man Dwight Howard.

In a report by Frank Isola for the New York Daily News, the Celtics have "engaged the Houston Rockets in talks" for a likely deal with Howard.

The report adds that Howard has the choice of opting out of his current contract with the Rockets. However, given some knee and back issues that Howard has been dealing with, Isola also noted that Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge might not likely go for a player "with declining skills and a battered body."

For his part, Howard addressed the trade rumors through a report by Eddie Scarito for Hoops Rumors.

In the said article, the 30-year-old Howard maintained that he was not leaving his current team and that he chooses not to think about something that will potentially happen in the coming year.

"There's always going into be rumors and speculation. I don't want to pay attention to it," Howard said. "I didn't say it. What can I do? There's nothing I can say."

This season, Howard played in 42 games in total, as he put up 14.2 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 steals, through 32.1 minutes of playing time per game.

Meanwhile, Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge addressed the situation involving his team's deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

Three years ago, the Celtics and the Nets drew up a deal wherein the former would be getting the latter's first-round pick for the 2016 NBA Draft.

In a report by Chris Forsberg for ESPN, while Ainge holds a good deal in his hands, he is still aware that it is not "untouchable."

Ainge adds that he also sees some other options for the Brooklyn pick, since it is going to be a "costly price," which entails compromising some of the best players.
