If the Tigers had held strong for the final two innings in Game 2 they would have been returning to Detroit with complete control of the series at 2-0 with the next three games to take place at Comerica Park. They would only have had to win two of the last five games in the series to claim their spot in the World Series, but as it stands the Red Sox are the ones feeling ecstatic and the Tigers come into Game 3 with a bitter taste in their mouths.

At 1-1 this series is again wide open, and Game 3 is sure to be as tense as the previous two games.

Justin Verlander will take the mound for the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday and will look to help them re-establish their lead. He has been red hot in recent games, and the Red Sox's big hitters will have to be in their top form to get anything from him today.

Opposite Verlander will be John Lackey taking the mound for Boston. Lackey won his only start so far of the postseason, striking out six batters while allowing four runs in 5 1/3rd innings in Boston's win over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the ALDS.
