Brawl at Baby Shower Leads to 4 Arrests, Including Teenager

A baby shower turned unruly and ended up in a nearly 200-person brawl. Four people, including one teenager, were arrested in Massachusetts after police were called to the chaotic scene.

"The behavior was appalling. It was absolutely appalling. There's just no other way to put it," Officer Robert Devine told Daily Mail. "The worst part was there was a lot of children. Our officers were concerned about the safety of the little ones, while the people who were fighting apparently could have cared less. They were swinging chairs and smashing bottles."

The scene was so out-of-control that the Stoughton, Mass. police had to call in three other departments to help, as well as the state police and sheriff's department, according to WHDH News.

A fight at the bar led to utter chaos and moved into the reception hall where the baby shower was being held. Those at the party surrounded officers who tried to break up the melee and "threw bottles and chairs" at them, officers said.

Patrick Cardoso Lopes, 24, was hit with a Taser, which was "the less lethal option," Devine said. "The officers exercised extreme restraint. They had every right in the world to be in fear for their safety. It was a chaotic scene. It was probably one of the more dangerous ones they've been in."

Paulo Pires Depina, 24; Aderito Lopes Deandrade, 22, and a 14-year-old boy were also arrested for disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer. The men will be held and arraigned in Stoughton District Court.

"They're here for the protection of the guests, and they turn the tables on the officer and the other officers that came down 'cause of what was going on. It's sad," Joao Vasconcelos, member of Club Luis de Camoes, told WHDH.

The club was the location where the baby shower and the brawl took place.

"It's never our intention to have anything like this happen but things do happen," Vasconcelos added.

None of the children were injured during the fight.
