Bride Left Stranded After Groom Sparks Brawl Over Allegedly Hitting on Pregnant Worker, Forcing Alcohol Down Her Throat
A bride who wed her groom Sunday in Pittsburgh on a riverboat cruise spent the night without him after he was arrested for hitting on a pregnant 19-year-old waitress at the reception party where he also allegedly tried to force the girl to drink alcohol.
The groom, Mark Williams, 33, and his bride, Edyta Branch, stayed on the boat for their reception party, and according to Star 104.3, Williams got over-served and tried to grope the pregnant waitress. The woman reportedly called her boyfriend after the boat docked and Williams, his brother and another friend got into a fistfight with the boyfriend, which triggered their arrests by local police.
A report from CBS said the fight broke out at about 12:55 a.m. Monday in Station Square.
Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said police were called to the Gateway Clipper dock area at Station Square, and when they got there they found two men covered in blood.
The waitress told CBS that her boyfriend, Tyler Smith, 20, confronted Williams about what he did to her and it sparked a physical altercation. The groom's brother, David Williams, 35, then got involved. He also reportedly became aggressive with police. Another man, identified as Brian Taylor, 31, punched his hand through the front passenger window of a nearby car and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
Brian Taylor is reportedly a member of the Stowe Rocks School Board and allegedly yelled that he was HIV positive when officers tried to arrest him. Mark Williams, David Williams and Taylor were arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail, according to CBS.
David Williams, who is a Pennsylvania State Police trooper, was off-duty at the time of the incident; however, police say they are pursuing an internal investigation.
"He ignored various commands from police to stay back," said Toler. "He ended up getting arrested."
Williams is facing charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and obstructing law enforcement. All three men have since been released from jail.
