Bristol Palin on Upcoming 'DWTS' Appearance: 'God Provides Opportunities for Me'

August 1, 2012|3:17 pm

Bristol Palin has signed on for the new All-Star season of "Dancing With the Stars," which will bring back fan favorites for the competition. Although she has received criticism for participating in another reality TV series, Palin insisted that God provided this particular opportunity.

"I asked for some sort of direction as to what to do, which direction to go," Palin posted on her blog. "In other words, I prayed and asked for guidance." When ABC called to ask if she would be willing to do "DWTS," Palin said she was "ecstatic."

"It was like God placed this opportunity right at my feet. I called my mom right after our conversation and told her the offer I had gotten. I'm thankful for my book, for this blog, for my Lifetime show, and now this. What I'm learning: God's plan is much greater than our own," Palin added.

Even though Palin has received serious criticism for her parenting efforts and relationship with the public, Palin remains confident that "God is in control of our lives, our futures, and even our foxtrots." It's a motto that has brought her far in life and will continue to guide her.

Palin's series, "Life's a Tripp!" features her and son Tripp as they live on their own and try to make it in the world. It's a coming-of-age series that debuted to huge ratings but has slowly fallen out of popularity. The honest moments have caused controversy, first with an encounter with a stranger had a few choice words about Palin's mother, Sarah.

Then, during last week's episode, 4-year-old Tripp unleashed a curse word that was caught on camera. People immediately criticized Palin for allowing him to utter such a word while she appeared to merely laugh at his antics. However, Palin later explained that she was shocked by what he had said and corrected him.

Doing 'DWTS, Palin told reporters, "is going to be awesome. It's a positive, active show. Do I like to provide for my son? Yes, I do. The press is going to talk to me no matter what I do. I might as well have fun."
