Brock Lesnar Heading Back to MMA After WWE Contract Expires?

CM Punk shocked WWE fans when he announced that he signed a contract with the UFC and will start competing next year. Now, another WWE star is rumored to be heading back to MMA—Brock Lesnar.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE is currently preparing to deal with the departure of its heavyweight champion.

"The Lesnar people always keep things quiet, but within the company, the belief that he's going back to UFC, and his showing up lighter to TV last week confirmed to people who thought it," he wrote.

On the Dec. 15 edition of Monday Night Raw, a noticeably leaner Lesnar attacked Chris Jericho and John Cena to give viewers a taste of things to come on his upcoming match at the Royal Rumble. Lesnar's slimmer physique immediately sparked rumors that he is shedding weight in order to return to MMA.

BleacherReport says that UFC president Dana White has taken every opportunity to state that Lesnar is welcome to return to his old promotion should he decide to return to MMA. Lesnar's WWE contract lasts until Wrestlemania 31, on March 29, 2015.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, CM Punk was asked on how Lesnar could improve his MMA game. Though CM Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, has not stepped into the Octagon yet, he still had advice for Lesnar.

"I suppose the easy answer to what Brock's shortcomings were that he probably needed to spar more," said Brooks. "Everyone likes to say Brock hated getting hit in the face. I don't know who likes getting hit in the face, but I guess he did need to work on his stand-up defense."
