'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 4 Spoilers News: Recap of Season Finale

The winter finale for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 aired on January first of this year, and capped the latest season of the police sitcom.

A prison van transporting a group of convicts has overturned, sending the entire squad in the New York City Police Department's (NYPD) fictional 99th precinct in Brooklyn in pursuit. Nine convicts take the chance to escape on foot, and who happens to be there to witness the mishap? It's former National Football League (NFL) Marshawn Lynch (as himself)! TVLine has more on the recap of the winter finale.

Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) has been working on their decision to move in together for some time. Spurred into leading the roundup of the escapees, the couple decides they might as well let fate decide, and makes a bet: whoever arrests the most convicts will get to keep their apartment — the loser will have to move out of his/her own.

Jake will eventually let Amy win their wager; he lets her get the credit for taking in George Jeselnik (Charles Baker). They then agree to both move into Amy's apartment.

Later on, Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) lets them know that they got the wrong guy — the real George Jeselnik was actually driving the prison van! There's more to come, however, as George Jeselnik is actually George Judy, as Jake finds out after reading his file. Why does he share the same name as Doug "the Pontiac Bandit" Judy (Craig Robinson)?

Turns out the escapee once lived with Doug as a foster child until he set fire to their home, stole from Doug's parents and went as far as depriving the Pontiac Bandit of his Phil Collins album "No Jacket Required." Out for revenge, Doug teams up with Jake and a reluctant Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher) to bring the criminal to justice.

Doug will eventually win George over, before duping him so Jake and Holt can take him out. For his help, the Pontiac Bandit was cleared of his crimes and received a Gertie replica, courtesy of a grateful Captain Holt.

Season 4 leaves the viewers with a scene of Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) getting hit by a bus, right after announcing that she'd rather get hit by one than receive one more text from Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio).

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 is set to continue on April 11 at 7:00 p.m. Central Time.
