Buccaneers Roster News 2015: Kwon Alexander Staring at a Four-Game Suspension for PEDs

If there's a commitment within the Bucs organization to save the season and fight for a spot in the NFC playoff race, then they will need some kind of a plan that doesn't include rookie linebacker Kwon Alexander.

Tampa Bay is still within reach of playoff contention, but the news of Alexander expecting a notice from the NFL office about his suspension is an obvious blow to the team. The letter from the league contains information about his four-game suspension in response to Alexander's violation of the NFL policy on using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).

Talking to reporters after the Bucs' 45-17 win against the Eagles, he admitted that it's his fault — at least he's man enough to do that. "It's very disappointing, and I'm just disappointed in myself because all our coaches keep saying, 'if you're going to drink something, ask somebody first.' So I hold myself accountable," he said.

The rookie out of LSU insisted, though, that the suspension was caused by him taking an energy drink that he has been using since his days playing football in high school. He's trying to imply that he didn't really know that he'll get in trouble because of it. "I'm going to appeal it, and whatever the result is, I'll come back even stronger," Alexander added, talking about his plans of filing an appeal to the league.

As of this posting, there is no definite information or exact details given as to when the linebacker tested positive for PEDs, but some reports are coming in that it could have been in training camp.

The Bucs finally reached .500 in their convincing win against the Eagles last Sunday, putting them just a game behind the last NFC playoff spot. However, the absence of the 21-year-old Alexander in the next four games is a huge disadvantage, with him ranking second in the team in terms of the number of tackles made this season.
