Brooke Burke has shown off her scar suffered through her thyroid cancer surgery.

The Dancing With the Stars co-host came on "Good Morning America" without any make up or clothing to cover her scar.

On the show she said, "This is a first for me today. I've been scarf-ing it up. But you know what, it's fresh. It's a month old, and I think scars tell a story. And I'm so fortunate. I'm one of the lucky ones."

She continued, "It was shocking. I never thought I would hear the word cancer in relation to myself."

Burke successfully overcame her cancer, and just seven days after her thyroid cancer surgery her results showed that the cancer had successfully been removed from her body.

The DWTS host has been very open about her cancer diagnosis from the start and has given updates through her social media Twitter account, and now that she has been announced as cancer-free she appeared to be overjoyed on the morning breakfast show.

Burke said, "The message really is about preventative health because I had no symptoms. And generally, thyroid cancer is very subtle symptoms. I went for a regular physical."

Burke is well known for her role in Rock Star in 2005–2006, as well as winning the seventh season of hit reality TV dance talent show Dancing with the Stars. After winning the show she went on to become the co-host of the show for its 10th Season which started in 2010.

Her ancestry includes French, Irish, and Portuguese - with her maternal grandfather being Portuguese.

She was raised in her mother's Jewish religion, and is also raising her children Jewish. She attended both Sahuaro High School and Palo Verde High School in Tucson where she was homecoming queen in 1989, and later studied broadcast journalism.
