Burn Victim's Slurpee Shower at 7-Eleven Cools Down Hot Oil Injury

A burn victim's Slurpee shower may have saved him from further injury, according to reports. A tattooed man came running into a 7-Eleven Tuesday in South Oregon and doused himself with the fruity slush drinks to stop an oil burn from doing further damage.

The burn victim grabbed the Slurpee Hawaiian flavor and started throwing it on his arm, which was freshly burned from hot oil, according to The Grants Pass Daily Courier. He was being pursued by two others, but the clerk behind the cash register, Charlie Bentley, said that he and another employee acted fast to keep them outside.

Police officers were called in response to the domestic disturbance, and when they noticed the tattooed man's wounds, they saw that he made it to the hospital for proper treatment. The Slurpee he poured on himself may have saved him from further injury, as hospital workers considered the burns minor. They dressed his wounds shortly afterwards, Fox news reported.

Police investigators looked into the incident and determined that it originated several blocks from the downtown Grants Pass area on Southeast J Street. Apparently, two neighbors had been arguing with another neighbor, the tattooed person, when one of them decided to throw hot oil on the man.

It is unknown if any charges were pressed.

Another unnamed person was injured in the fracas, but chose not to go to the hospital.

Bentley said it wasn't the worst thing he has seen working at 7-Eleven.

For minor burns, Slurpees are not recommended for treatment. Instead, burn victims should run the affected area under cool water.
