'Call of Duty' 2017: Leaked Images Point to WWII Setting

"Call of Duty" fans are eagerly awaiting any news about a refresh in the franchise. And while neither Activision nor Sledgehammer Games have revealed anything thus far, it is widely believed that an announcement may take place soon.

According to PC Advisor, a new "Call of Duty" game may be announced in April. This is mainly based on historical data, with previous announcements teetering between April and May. There has also been talk of the game being unveiled at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 in June.

But what can fans expect from the yet-to-be confirmed "Call of Duty" 2017?

TheFamilyVideoGamers has reportedly leaked photos from the upcoming game, revealing that it will take place during World War II. The title is apparently going to be "Call of Duty: World War II," but PlayStation Lifestyle has pointed out that this may just be a placeholder or code name.

The same publication notes that the authenticity of these photos remains unknown. And while some people think that the images are not real, there are others who believe that TheFamilyVideoGamers is a credible source. The poster has reportedly released previous leaks that turned out to be true and Activision even had the account removed.

"Call of Duty" 2017 is expected to be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. With newcomer Nintendo Switch joining the ranks, it remains to be seen if it will be offered on this console as well. However, the general consensus is that the Nintendo Switch is not powerful enough to support a full "Call of Duty" game.

As for the game's release date, it is speculated that it will arrive sometime before Christmas, with November being the likely choice. Both "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" and "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" were released in the first week of November.

Since nothing has been confirmed so far, though, readers should take this news with a grain of salt.
