'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' Free in Multiplayer Mode This Weekend, Price Discounted Until Monday

Sledgehammer Games is offering the multiplayer mode of their military shooting game "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" for free on Steam this weekend, and is also lowering prices through Monday.

The announcement was first made on Steam's official website, informing gamers of their weekend deals.
"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" multiplayer mode will be free to play on PCs via Steam until Sunday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. PT or 4 p.m. ET, while the game has been marked down 25 percent, going from $60 to $45, until Monday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. PT and 1 p.m. ET.

Microsoft is also offering a "Call of Duty" deal of their own, this time for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," as well as "Destiny," are both pat of Microsoft's "12 Days of Deals." Both games will be available at a discounted price of $29.99 each on Saturday on their online stores and in select retail shops.

Not only that but the first 50 customers at any Microsoft store, or the first 25 for any Microsoft specialty store, will also get even more of a discount and can get the games for $19.99 each. The deal stars at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday.

In related news, Activision Publishing announced that both flagship games "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" and "Destiny" were the best-selling games of the year in the U.S.

Since it was first released, the "Call of Duty" game already topped the charts in overall and in individual sales for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It is followed by Bungie's "Destiny" at the number two spot.

Activision also mentioned that their "Skylanders" game also topped the charts as the number one kids video game franchise of the year.
