Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Review Roundup: 'EXO-LLENT!' Says IGN

The latest installment to the ever-popular first-person shooter game Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, arrived on consoles and PCs worldwide this week. Here's a roundup of what the prominent tech and game review sites has to say about the sequel.

IGN, who made their review after playing the first-person shooter in Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, and PC, headed their article with "Exo-llent!"

"Advanced Warfare definitely hasn't discarded the excellent, fast-paced run-and-gun shooting that made Call of Duty a household name; instead, it's taken that strength and committed itself completely to the idea that mobility and flexibility are king, making it faster and more focused than any Call of Duty game before it," the site said.

Commenting on the lead actors Troy Baker and Kevin Spacey, they said that they perfectly nailed their roles as Mitchell and Atlas Corporation President Jonathan Irons, respectively.

The site also commends on how players can interact with the surroundings, which as implied, is a missing factor in the previous titles.

"Your arsenal is impressive, too, with a variety of mostly typical but great-sounding weapons, grenades, and, gadgets to get the job done," the site went on to say.

Forbes also chimed in, giving their nods to the new game.

"Sledgehammer Games has put together a single-player experience that's polished and fun, moving the series forward into the near future while still retaining the trademark Call of Duty experience," the site said.

Eurogamer, on the other hand, touched on the notion of "how much fun war can be," referring to the "exquisite toys" featured in the game.

Putting the single-player aspect of the game aside, Game Spot continued to pinpoint the "moderately tough to learn, even tougher to master" moves that players who worry much about their kill:death ratio should learn in the multiplayer set-up.

Polygon also referred to the exo-suits that offers players the feeling that "there's less safety, less predictability" in the game.

"This is a Call of Duty game to its core, but one that rehashes as little as possible while still retaining its strengths," IGN concluded.
