'Call of Duty' News: Next Installment May Be Called 'Infinite Warfare' and Set in Space

The popular shooter franchise "Call of Duty" is rumored to be bringing another installment to the series soon, and according to a Tech Times report, the upcoming game may come by the name "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." This news came ahead of any official announcement after a listing of the game with the said title appeared on the PlayStation Store, an image of which was shared on NeoGAF.

Other rumors about the game indicate that an unveiling of the game will be happening on May 3rd. According to leaks, game retailers are already receiving marketing collateral as well as the start date of the marketing.

The Tech Times report speculated that May 3rd is likely if one looks at how Activision usually announces its "Call of Duty" installment a few months before an E3 (which is two months away), and it has done so in the past years. Aside from that, leaks about the game will likely find themselves online as what happened with "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" in 2014, where the game was supposed to be revealed through a special cover edition of Game Informer, but when the trailer leaked ahead, the developer and publisher decided to make the announcement.

When it comes to what the game's story arc will be, a Forbes report looked at several theories about the game based on what has been circulating online. One such theory points to a recent leak of concept art from the game supposedly, showing a man in what looked like a space suit. "Infinite Warfare" is rumored to take players to outer space this time around. Developer Infinity Ward was the same developer responsible for "Call of Duty: Ghosts" which featured a segment that was set in outer space, making it possible that this may be the direction the game is going in.

Another recent leak showed that the upcoming game may also include a remastered collection of the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" which includes the trilogy: "Modern Warfare 1, 2 and 3," all of which were originally developed by Infinity Ward.
