'Call the Midwife' Season 3 Spoilers: Jenny's Departure to End With Tears, New Character Introduced

"Call the Midwife" returns to PBS this Sunday with a brand new episode which will bring the show closer to a dramatic finale.

Fans are still grappling with news of drastic changes happening at Nonnatus House this year- including Jenny Lee's departure. Actress Jessica Raine is leaving the show permenantly, but her character Jenny will remain a part of the storyline. Consequently, as season three gains steam, "Call the Midwife" viewers are growing more and more anxious about how Jenny will mark her departure, fully preparing for a tearful farewell.

"It was sad to see her go, but she wanted to move over to pastures new," Ben Caplan, who plays Peter Noakes, told Digital Spy. "I also respected her decision that she'd done the show and got what she needed to get out of it, so it was time to move on. It'll be interesting to see how we progress, but it will progress!"

According to reports, Jenny Lee will end her time at Nonnatus House and pursue a nursing job at a Marie Curie cancer hospice after helping a friend take care of her dying mother. She will also pursue a new relationship and new life with boyfriend Phillip Worth, portrayed by Stephen Ashfield.

The changes to Nonnatus House do not end there. This week, "Call the Midwife" fans will be introduced to a new "no-nonsense" nurse on the television series. The character is named Patsy Mount, portrayed by Emerald Fennell.

"Call the Midwife" airs Sundays on PBS at 8 p.m. EST. The synopsis for this week's installment is as follows: "The midwives help a woman with Down Syndrome who's six months pregnant; Dr. Turner recommends that Shelagh oversee Nonnatus House while an exhausted Sister Julienne recuperates; and a new, no-nonsense nurse signs on."
